25 miles today over beautiful yet extremely rugged terrain so this will be short. Saw a family of elk but they must have smelled my feet because they took off before I could get close enough for a picture. But who cares about photos anyway? They can never compare to the actual sight, and capturing something so beautiful on film is in vain. We removed a lot of blown down trees from the trail today. It’s amazing how much work thru hikers can do as we walk along moving branches. Just think how nice the trails would be if everyone out here took a few moments to do the same! Our camp tonight is in a grassy meadow and a symphony of crickets is lulling me to sleep.
